The Department of Korean Language and Literature is aimed at producing individuals who can adapt to the rapidly changing modern society of ours with knowledge and proper understanding of our language and literature. To this end, the Department offers traditional courses in modern literature, classical literature, Korean linguistics as well as courses in creative writing and Korean informatics.
Educational Objectives
1. To develop literary capacities needed to pass on and develop philosophical and spiritual culture of Korea and the world
2. To encourage and educate students to have proper understanding of the present, look ahead the future and creatively contribute to the betterment of our society
3. To develop the skills needed to preserve our traditions and create new values in today’s modern, industrial society

The Department of Korean Language and Literature studies Korean language and literature and also explores sentiments and spiritual world of Korean people. Moreover, it is an academic discipline that pursues the universal truths of literature and language through systematic integration of history, society and literature. In pursuit of these truths, it is very important to have a critical mind and the ability to logically analyze the theoretical systems of literature and language. By acquiring these qualities, we can understand ourselves, others and the world better and find path to better, wiser living. The Department’s educational objectives are as follows,

The primary goal of the Department of Korean Language and Literature studies is to study our language and literature, strengthen our national spirit and produce national leaders who can contribute to the betterment of our society, nation and the world and the Department works very hard to produce literary researchers and leaders in classical literature, modern literature and Korea linguistics.
The Department’s offers an education that is focused on developing creativity and the ability to integrate ideas, values and fields. Cultural industry is nothing without original content. And, the industry-academy cooperation program offered in the Department of Korean Language and Literature produces leaders who can create this original content which is the foundation of various other cultural content and industries.
