Educational Objectives
To satisfy the demand for top-notch engineers who have extensive knowledge in semiconductor and new materials which are the foundations of our future electrical and electronic industries, the Department educates the students in more practical knowledge and develops their skills so that they can contribute to the advancement of electrical, electronics and semiconductor industries. Also, it aims to produce more independent and specialized engineers who are practical and experts in understanding the latest and future technologies and research trends. To offer an effective engineering program, the Department adopted the ABEEK (Accreditation Board for Engineering Education in Korea) system and offers a curriculum designed to meet the following educational objectives,
1. To develop understanding of basic sciences including mathematics and the ability to creatively solve various engineering problems
2. To develop the ability to integrate electronic engineering and material engineering in designing and developing new materials and devices by offering practical education
3. To produce engineers with a sound ethical mindset and understanding of their social responsibilities
4. To develop communications skills which will help them deliver their engineering ideas, exchange technologies and work effectively in a global environment
Majors and Studies
The Department of Electronic Materials Engineering conducts research on electronic materials and devices, aims to produce creative and skilled engineers who have broad knowledge in electrical materials and devices and, can carry out development, research and design of new electrical materials and devices.
The Department’s eight outstanding professors teach courses that are designed to produce top-notch engineers who have extensive knowledge in semiconductor and new materials which are the foundations of our future electrical and electronic industries and specialized engineers who are practical and experts in understanding the latest and future technologies and research trends. To offer an effective engineering program, the Department adopted the ABEEK (Accreditation Board for Engineering Education in Korea) system in 2002.
The undergraduate program offers courses on basic courses on electromagnetics, electronic physics and circuit theory as well as general major courses on semiconductor device engineering, solid-state physics, optics and electronic materials. The 4th year students learn practical skills required in the actual field of industries through advanced major courses on semiconductor, applied technologies and new materials. The Department offers in-depth learning opportunities so that students can become skilled and independent engineers who can conduct creative research by themselves.
