Professor Chul-hwan Park from Kwangwoon University's Department of Chemical Engineering was awarded the ‘BBE Excellence in Research Award’ by the Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering (KSBB) at the ‘2024 KSBB Fall Symposium and International Symposium,’ held from September 25 to 27 at the Jeju Convention Center. An expert in the field of industrial biotechnology, Professor Park was recognized for his significant contributions to the advancement of Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering (BBE), an international journal in the field of biotechnology (SCIE).

Professor Park has previously received numerous awards from KSBB in recognition of his outstanding academic contributions and impact on the field of biotechnology and bioengineering. His accolades include the ‘New Scholar Award’ in 2012, the ‘Damyeon Award’ in 2014, the ‘Biotechnology Promotion Award’ in 2019-2021 and 2024, and the ‘Beyond Cell Award’ in 2023. To date, he has actively contributed to the field with 255 SCI(E) papers, 57 domestic research papers, 49 registered patents, and 395 academic presentations.

The Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering, one of the leading societies in the biotechnology field, has nearly 10,000 members, including experts and companies in industrial biotechnology. Professor Park currently serves as the Chair of the International Cooperation Committee within KSBB.
