Hosted by the Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering, this competition aims to cultivate talented individuals with creative and comprehensive design skills. University students majoring in biotechnology-related fields presented their designs on various topics. The Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering is a leading academic organization in the biotechnology field, with around 9,000 members, including experts and companies in the BT (Biotechnology) industry.

The research team of Ji-yoon Lim, Su-yeon Lee, and Eun-ah Jeong, who led their project with new ideas and won the award, shared, “It was a rewarding experience to conduct integrative research in the optimization of enzymatic synthesis and process simulation in the field of biotechnology, and we are proud to introduce our work,” adding, “We aim to build on this experience and continue developing our creative design skills through self-directed research and development.”

Additionally, Ji-yoon Lim, Su-yeon Lee, and Eun-ah Jeong previously won the Excellence Award in the “18th College of Engineering Academic Festival (Chemical Engineering Division)” last semester. Su-yeon Lee also received an Encouragement Award at the “2023 MY (Multi-Y) Capstone Design Competition.” Both Ji-yoon Lim and Su-yeon Lee plan to continue their studies in the graduate school of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Kwangwoon University under the guidance of Professor Cheol-hwan Park, conducting further research in the Biochemical Engineering Lab.

Professor Cheol-hwan Park commented, "It has been incredibly rewarding to witness the students actively and systematically approach the design process, and I hope they can build on this experience to achieve outstanding research outcomes."
