Participates in 2024 HUSS Convergence Camp and Launches Global Symbiosis Consortium

- First Step Toward Fostering Humanities and Social Convergence Professionals to Lead Sustainable Global Collaboration and Growth -

The Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development Group of Kwangwoon University (Director Hye-young Lee) participated as the host university for the Global Symbiosis Consortium at the '2024 Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development Project Camp (hereafter HUSS Convergence Camp),' held for four days starting Monday, July 8, 2024, at Splas Resom in Chungcheongnam-do.

This camp was a camp-style education program, where humanities and social sciences convergence talents gathered to foster creative and integrative thinking. Over 40 universities participating in the Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development Project took part in the event.

At the event, Kwangwoon University's Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development Project Group hosted both a launch ceremony for a new consortium and a signing ceremony. As part of the Global Symbiosis Consortium, which fosters sustainable global collaboration and growth, plaques were awarded to three newly selected consortia this year, including Kwangwoon University, bringing the total to 15 universities. The presidents of the participating universities from all consortia gathered to sign the agreement.

The 'Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development Project' is a program organized by the National Research Foundation of Korea and the Ministry of Education. It is a project to foster leading talents in the humanities and social fields by breaking down the boundaries between universities and majors to form a humanities and society convergence education system.

Under the theme 'The Place Where Creativity and Innovation Begin: Humanities and Social Sciences Base Camp,' the HUSS Academy Program and the HUSS Hackathon Program were held. The HUSS Academy Program offered students opportunities for mutual learning through high-quality lectures on the five major themes of the project (Digital, Environment, Risk Society, Population Structure, and Global Culture) as well as various fields (Humanities and Social Sciences/Science and Technology).
