Culture and Arts Center Ice Rink of Kwangwoon University(President Jangho Chun)
has been renovated and reopened on Thursday, August 1, 2024.
Since its opening in 1998, the Donghae
Culture and Arts Center Ice Rink has been a key hub for winter sports culture
in the Gangbuk area, attracting around 120,000 visitors annually. The recent
renovation was undertaken to address the aging of the existing facilities.
The renovation consisted of changing the
ice rink's sandy floor to concrete, replacing the old fence, painting the
ceiling, replacing the rubber flooring, and refurbishing the lobby.
The ice rink reopening ceremony, which
took place on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 10:30 a.m., was attended by
Kwangwoon University's founding president Moosung Cho, Kwangwoon Institute
Chairman Sunyoung Cho, President Jangho Chun, and members of the faculty.
"Kwangwoon University Ice Rink was
the first to open among Korean universities, and it has played a remarkable
role in shaping the history of winter sports in Korea," said Kwangwoon
University President Jangho Chun, adding, "Kwangwoon University will
continue to make every effort to grow and thrive with the local
community."
