2024 Fall Semester KW&I International Student Program Guide

 

1. Purpose and Content of KW&I International Student Program

- A learning support program for managing students on academic probation.

- Participation in a 1-4 step program during the semester.

- Upon successful completion of the program, the student's expulsion will be deferred for one semester in accordance with the 'Policy for Deferring Expulsion Due to Accumulated Academic Warnings.'

* Subject to expulsion if accumulated 3 consecutive times or 4 times in total.

* Program completion can be repeated, but the policy is applied only once during enrollment.

- Targeting international students on academic probation with significantly poor Korean language skills and classroom adaptation, aiming to improve their adaptation to school life and academic achievement through a 4-step rehabilitation program.

 

2. Eligibility

- International students who received academic warnings in the previous semester (2023-2nd semester), and those with a TOPIK level 3 or below among students who have received academic warnings during their enrollment.

Those with TOPIK level 4 or above are required to apply for the KW&I Learning Design Program at the Teaching and Learning Center.

Learning Coaching

Learning consultation with the head professor (or advisor) for international students

- 4 months (March-June), total 6 sessions (2 sessions in April & May, 1 session in March & June, adjustable per month)

Step 3

Online Course on University Life and Learning

Viewing of a video guide on university life for international students

- KLAS use (basic/advanced), sending emails, proper communication etiquette, introduction and guide for liberal arts Korean language courses

- 50 minutes of content for all program participants

 

Viewing of a video on basic terminology of major courses

- Basic terminology explanation for specific fields, only for Business/International Trade/Media students

- 50 minutes of content for Business/International Trade/Media students

Step 4

International Student Tutoring

Support with major courses, assignments, and report writing

- Tutor: International students with the same nationality who achieved a B (GPA 3.0) or higher in the previous semester; if none, a domestic student who achieved a B (GPA 3.0) or higher in the previous semester can substitute

- Tutee: All program participants

- 6 face-to-face / online study sessions, totaling over 10 hours

- 4 months (March-June), total 6 sessions (1 session in September, 2 sessions in October, 2 sessions in November, 1 session in December, adjustable per month)

5. KW&I International Student Program Application Method

- Application Period: 2024.09.03 (Mon) ~ 2024.09.13 (Fri)

- Application Method: Email application with "Student ID / Name / TOPIK Level / Phone Number / Email Address" to (windowlee@kw.ac.kr)

Please note that your application may be canceled if a tutor is not recruited, and it is recommended to find an international student tutor with the same nationality who achieved a B (GPA 3.0) or higher in the previous semester.

If you find a tutor and apply, please include the tutor's "Student ID / Name / Previous Semester GPA / Nationality / Phone Number / Email Address" in the email.
