- Led by Professor Myung-cheol Ko and an eight-member compilation team over seven years -

Professor Myung-cheol Ko of Kwangwoon University's Department of Korean Language and Literature, who served as the chief editor, and his dedicated team have published the 'Hwasando Novel Glossary,' based on the epic novel 'Hwasando,' which deals with the Jeju 4.3 Incident.

This book extracts 645 specific terms (headwords) related to the era, characters, place names, and customs from the twelve volumes of 'Hwasando.' It includes rich supplementary materials such as a Jeju 4.3 Incident's chronological table, character relationships, maps, author Kim Seok-beom's chronicle, and reference materials to deepen the understanding of the novel.

The dedicated compilation team consists of Myung-cheol Ko, a native of Jeju and a consistent researcher of 'Hwasando,' along with Moon-jung Kim (Dongguk University), Bo-ryeom Park (cultural arts educator), Byung-hyun Son (novelist), Seung-ho Yoo (Kyung Hee University), Yu-chul Chun (humanities scholar), Dong-il Choi (publishing planner), and Bitnara Choi (Korea University Institute of Korean Studies).

'Hwasando' is set against the tumultuous backdrop of the period from February 1948, just before the Jeju 4.3 Incident, to June 1949, when the armed uprising of the Jeju guerrillas was suppressed.
