- To
support the social adaptation of isolated, reclusive, and NEET youth in the
area with the Baeknyeon Market Merchants' Association -
The Seoul
Youth Center Gangbuk, managed by the Kwangwoon University Industry-Academic Collaboration
Foundation (Director Young-uk Jeong), and the Baeknyeon Market Merchants'
Association organized a 'Traditional Market Grocery Shopping Experience' on May
24th. The event was organized to support the social adaptation of isolated and
reclusive youth as well as NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training)
youth, living in a shared house in Gangbuk-gu.
The grocery
shopping experience aims to help these young people practice managing their own
lives by exploring the traditional market and purchasing daily necessities
using Onnuri gift certificates, and it also aims to contribute to revitalizing
the local economy.
Since June
2022, the Seoul Youth Center Gangbuk has been in partnership with the Baeknyeon
Market Merchants' Association. Starting from July 2023, they have been
providing seasonal ingredients and fresh vegetables weekly to the shared house
of a specialized private institution, supporting isolated youth in the area.
Young-uk
Jeong, director of the Kwangwoon University Industry-Academic Collaboration
Foundation, said, "We will continue our efforts to help socially isolated
or self-reclusive youth, as well as those not engaged in job-seeking or
educational activities, to reintegrate into society."
