Professor Cheol-gyun
Chae (Department of Architecture) of Kwangwoon University has been appointed as
an honorary architect for the year 2024 by the Korea Institute of Architects, in
recognition of his contributions to the development of Korean architectural
culture.
Similar to
being a lifetime member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology or the
Arts Academy, being designated as an honorary architect can be considered the
highest honor for an architect.
The
Honorary Architects Association has been actively contributing to society by
establishing the main roles of promoting the national and social roles of
architects, supporting architectural development projects, and promoting
exchanges between domestic and foreign architects in order to convey the
inherent value of architecture to our society and future societies, and strives
to provide guidance on the socio-cultural aptitudes necessary to raise the
national level and the direction to go.
Professor Cheol-gyun
Chae said " I
feel honored to be named an honorary architect, and I would like to express my
sincere gratitude to my predecessors in the architectural community for their
support and guidance. With this opportunity, I will devote myself even more to
improving the architectural culture and fostering the next generation."
Professor Cheol-gyun Chae graduated from the Department of Architecture at Chung-Ang University and obtained his doctoral degree from Technische Universit?t Berlin and served as the president of the Korean Institute of Healthcare Architecture. He is currently holding the position of dean at the College of Engineering at Kwangwoon University and is also working to realize 'a healthy environment and a communal society' at the Institute of Health and Environment.
