Bhavna S. Hedau (Doctoral student) from the
research team of Professor Tae-Jun Ha (Department of Electronic Material
Engineering) received the Best Paper Award at 2023 Fall Conference of the
Korean Sensors Society for her research on ‘Highly
sensitive and selective enzyme-free electrochemical biosensors for the
detection of bioactive molecules’.
The synthesis of a cobalt-carbon matrix with
strong negative electrical properties through π-π bonding was conducted for a
highly sensitive enzyme-free biosensor aimed at detecting dopamine and glucose
using electrochemical methods. This allowed the detection of dopamine down to
concentrations as low as 10 nM. Additionally, synthesizing nanocomposites based
on polyaniline and reduced graphene oxide, functionalizing silver nanoparticles
as catalysts, enabled the sensitive detection of glucose down to concentrations
as low as 0.79 μM. Particularly, this research was recognized for its excellent
potential applications in the field of biosensors for the diagnosis of
neurological disorders and metabolic disorders.
