Defense Research Institute Academic Journal "Advanced Defense Research"
Selected as a Registered Site by the National
Research Foundation of Korea
Four Years After its Founding
Kwangwoon University Defense Project Research Institute, a
humanities and social research institute designated by the National Research
Foundation of Korea (Director, Department of International Trade/Department of
Defense Prof. Sang-ryeol Shim) was working on the journal “Journal of Advances
in Military Studies: JAMS”, which has been published three times a year since
its inception in August 2018. The journal was selected as a ‘registered
journal’ as a result of the 2022 academic evaluation by the National Research
Foundation of Korea.
『Advanced Defense Research』
became the first academic journal in the school to receive very high ratings in
the evaluation of this journal in terms of online accessibility of papers, the
relevance of research topics and scope of journals, and strictness of review.
It is an exceptional case that a journal published by a university-affiliated
research institute was selected as a candidate site for inclusion after two
years of publication. It was subsequently promoted to a site (it took four
years).
Behind these achievements, there are many people including
the editorial chair (Professor Jeong Seok-jae, Faculty of Business
Administration/Defense Business Department), editorial staff (full-time
researchers Jeong-su Kim, Dr. E-hwa Joo), and experts in the domestic and
foreign defense and defense industries are composed. They were reviewing all
theses very strictly and were working hard on journal management. Based on the
results of the registration of DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), the
only overseas open-access journal among domestic military science journals
(February 27, 2019), it is expected to develop into an excellent academic
journal that leads the sharing and dissemination of information with domestic
and overseas educational institutions.
