Professor Hyun Kyung Kim's team in the Faculty of Information Convergence
Won the Grand Prize at the 2022 Korean
Ergonomics Society 40th Anniversary Academic Conference and International
Symposium University Student Capstone Contest
Students Lee Joo-wan, Jo Yoon-bin, and Kang Ji-woo (advisor: Kim
Hyun-kyung) are undergraduate students in the Department of Information and
Convergence at Kwangwoon University. They attended the 2022 Korean Society of
Ergonomics 40th Anniversary Symposium and the International Symposium held from
October 5th to 8th and won the grand prize in the competition. The Korean
Society of Ergonomics, established in 1982, is an authoritative society
celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Organizations such as Samsung
Electronics, LG Electronics, Hyundai Motors, and Production Technology Research
Institute are working together to conduct industry-university-research
convergence research. This fall conference was an event to commemorate the 40th
anniversary, and a total of 150 papers and 82 posters were presented.
Students Juwan Joo, Yunbin Jo, and Jiwoo Kang won the Grand
Prize for the theme "Metaverse Platform-Based Virtual Shopping Mall: User
Experience Design Using Video Ethnography". This research was highly
evaluated in that it designed a high traffic VR mall. The team developed a
prototype by directly applying it to a VR virtual mall and capturing the actual
method of offline shopping in a mall. Student Juwan Lee, the first author of
the thesis, said: “Thanks to the help of many people, I was able to achieve
good results. I want to continue doing research and design in more diverse
areas, using the winning of this capstone contest towards my goal.”
The research team of Professor Kim Hyun-kyung, who is the advisor, won the Best Poster Award at the 2022 Korean Society of Ergonomics Spring Conference for their thesis “Analysis of Voice Recognition-based Kiosk Usability of Middle-aged People (Lee Joo-wan, Kim Hyun-kyung, Lee Yu-ryun, Kim Joo-hyun, Kwak So-jeong, Oh Soo-bin)”. “Evaluation of user satisfaction according to the degree of AI intervention in the news recommendation algorithm (Yunbin Jo, Dooyeon Kim, Minseok Kang, Hyeongbin Park, Yuryun Lee, Hyunkyung Kim)” and “Analysis of user experience evaluation scales of mobile health care apps ( Kim Ga-young, Kim Gu-yeop, Hwang Dong-wook, Kim Hyun-kyung)” received the Best Paper Presentation Award. Professor Kim Hyun-kyung, who supervised her research, said, “It is very rewarding to see that Kwangwoon University students are making a standout in various academic societies in the field of user experience.”
