Kwangwoon University Visited a Vietnamese University to Sign an Exchange Agreement

Kwangwoon University was visiting major universities in Vietnam for 5 days and 4 nights from September 4 to strengthen international exchanges and promote the university. Kwangwoon Academy Chairman Cho Seon-young and Kwangwoon University President Kim Jong-heon? visited Ho Chi Minh University of Economics (UEH), Ho Chi Minh University of Technology (HUTECH), Van Lang University, and Binh Dong University of Economics and Technology. With the importance of attracting students due to the increase of international students in Southeast Asia, discussions were held on exchange agreements and university promotion.
On September 5, Chairman Cho Seon-young and
President Kim Jong-heon discussed educational cooperation in the media field
and research cooperation in the smart city field with UEH President Nguyen Dong
Phuong and President Su Dinh Thanh at the Ho Chi Minh University of Economics.
Founded in 1976 in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh University of
Economics is one of the largest comprehensive universities in Vietnam with
about 30,000 students enrolled and about 800 teachers working with major
domestic universities.

Chairman Cho Seon-young? said, “Based on the founding spirit of Kwangwoon University, Dr. Kwangwoon Cho, the founder of Kwangwoon University, we hope to promote practical exchanges between the two schools.” Then, President Kim Jong-heon said, "Through the bilateral exchange agreement, we will spare no effort to support each other's development as well as our interest in smart city and media design cooperation projects to be successful."

In a working-level discussion with Ho Chi Minh
University of Technology on September 6, he met with the dean of the Korean
Studies Department, Bui Pan Ant, and discussed ways to promote the exchange of students
and revitalize the undergraduate transfer program. Ho Chi Minh University of
Technology operates 13 departments and 40 majors and is the 8th university in
Vietnam where the Korean language department was established in 2016.

Afterward, on September 7, President Kim Jong-heon discussed with President Ban Lang University Chan Thi Midieu and President Nguyen Thi Tuha of Binh Duong University of Economics and Technology student exchanges promotion, general exchange agreements, and vitalization of undergraduate transfers. Barang University is a comprehensive university with approximately 25,000 students in 17 departments, and 700 students in the Korean language department. It has 5 campuses in Ho Chi Minh City and is actively promoting exchanges with domestic universities. Binhung University of Economics and Technology, affiliated with Banrang Education Group, offers undergraduate courses in pharmaceuticals, power electronics, economics, public relations, trade, and English.

President Kim Jong-heon said, “After the
exchange agreement in 2021, I hope that students will participate in exchange and
transfer programs with Banrang University more actively. As we signed an
agreement on general exchange and transfer with Binh Dong University of
Economics and Technology at the same time, we hope to make exchanges in various
fields such as short-term training, dispatch of international volunteers, and
transfer of Vietnamese students.”

Moreover, during this visit to Vietnam, with a separate schedule, Chairman Cho Seon-young? and President Kim Jong-heon met with coach Park Hang-seo and head coach Lee Young-jin of the Vietnam national football team. They both were appointed as honorary visiting professors of Kwangwoon University in 2019 and have maintained a relationship with Kwangwoon University, to establish a relationship between Kwangwoon University and Vietnam University. They chatted about exchanging support and delivered messages of encouragement to the soccer team.
