Prof. Lee Jeonghoon’s team
Has Developed Technology to Detect COVID-19 Antibodies Instantly on Site
- By significantly improving the
analytical sensitivity, which has been a technical challenge of point-of-care
testing, the technology enables the investigation of the scale of infection in
the community and the epidemiologic investigation of infection without
symptoms. It can be applied as a new technology in the antibody diagnosis
market in the future.
- Published in Biosensors and
Bioelectronics 2022 (JCR 2.87%, Impact factor 10.61), an internationally
renowned journal.
The Kwangwoon University research team under the advisory of Prof.
Lee Junghoon collaborated with Prof. Yoon Daesung’s team at Korea University, Prof. Yoo
Yongkyung's team at Catholic Kwandong University, and Kells Co., Ltd., a
diagnostic device venture company. They developed a diagnostic platform that
can quickly and accurately analyze the presence or absence of a disease or
antibodies on-site by applying the nanoelectrokinetic (NEK)
preconcentrator.

This technology is the result of research supported by the
National Research Foundation of Korea Biomedical Technology Development Project
(No.2021M3E5E3080743) with government funding (Ministry of Science and
Technology) in 2021. It was published in Biosensors and Bioelectronics, 2022
(JCR2.87%, Impact factor 10.61), the world's leading biosensor journal.
