Alumna Lee Young (Mathematics Class 89) Appointed as Minister of SMEs and Startups 

The presidential office announced that President Yoon Suk-yeol appointed Lee Young as the Minister of SMEs and Startups and Lee Chang-yang as a Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy on May 12th. The two ministers held personnel hearings in the National Assembly. The ruling and opposition parties reached an agreement on the same day and adopted a report on the progress of the hearings.

On the morning of May 12, President Yoon appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin and Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min. The two ministers did not accept a personnel hearing progress report from the National Assembly staff due to disagreement from the opposition Democratic Party.

With this, a total of 11 government ministers have been appointed, including the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
