Prof. Ko Myeong-cheol’s “World Literature, Beyond” Selected as Outstanding Literature Book In Sejong Books 2021

Prof. Ko Myeong-cheol’s (Department of Korean Language and Literature) book “World Literature, Beyond” was selected as outstanding book in literature category in the Sejong Book List 2021

Sejong Book List is a project run by the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and selects books that have high value as a liberal arts book and can contribute to the improvement of the nation’s reading culture to promote the publishing culture industry and the nation’s reading culture. The selected books will be distributed to public libraries, specialized libraries, and elementary, middle, high schools, and universities across the country.

Prof. Ko Myeong-cheol's “World Literature, Beyond” imagines life as a new alternative to imagination beyond the outside of the world system, which is becoming more intimate with the existing world literature leaning on Europe and America-centrism. The author conducts radical critical reflection on the European and American-centered world literature, and at the same time puts all of his energy into finding a way to actively understand what cannot be fully read from the perspective of existing world literature from the perspective of 'new world literature'.
