Kwangwoon
University (President Yoo Ji-sang) announced on the 5th that it will expand
classes using the "Metaverse Lecture Platform" from the middle of
this month.
The
Metaverse Lecture Platform will be introduced to 43 courses in the second
semester. About 1,200 students from various majors of Kwangwoon University will
participate. The project was carried out as part of a university innovation
project.
The
Metaverse Lecture Platform provides students who are familiar with digital
platforms and social media with a real learning environment where professors
and students gather in the same virtual space. Although it is a non-face-to-face
class, it can be expected to have an educational effect as if it is a
traditional classroom class.
There are 43
classes using the metaverse lecture platform at Kwangwoon University this
semester, including Construction Management Introduction (Professor Lee
Seul-ki), American Politics (Professor Yoon Yi-sook), Hip-hop Production
(Professor Kim Chul-soo), and Immersive Media (Professor Hwang Dong-wook). The
students will participate in virtual campuses as avatars and attend lectures. KWU
has decided to use the "MOIM" developed by Grid, a domestic metaverse
platform company.
Kwangwoon
University's Education Innovation Institute will provide various support to
professors and students who are new to the Metaverse to conduct orientation and
education and operate classes smoothly.
President Yoo Ji-sang emphasized, "Kwangwoon University will gradually expand its digital content infrastructure to develop into a full-fledged XR campus, starting with the introduction of the Metaverse Lecture Platform and establishing a virtual convergence (eXtended Reality) lab."
