Kwangwoon University Mascot Contest Successfully Held With Enthusiastic Responses From the Members
Kwangwoon University Mascot Contest was successfully completed
by the Public Relations Team of the Office of International Affairs.
The PR team conducted this contest with the goal of revitalizing
school publicity through a differentiated method. A total of 47 works were
selected after a two-week application period from March 22 (Mon), and an online
survey was conducted targeting 8 works that passed the first screening by the
Public Relations Committee.
After adding the scores of the Public Relations Committee and survey,
Pangi & Wooni (Bang Dayeon, School of Software 19) scored 1st
place, Pang-pangi (Kang Minseok, Electronic Communication Engineering 17) 2nd
place and followed by Pangsu (Shin Yuna, Chemical Engineering, 20) in 3rd
place.
Bang Dayeon (School of Software 19), who created the Pangi &
Wooni character, said, "It was not easy to choose a name for the mascot,
so I asked a lot of advice from people around me, and with the idea of a senior
in my class, I took Kwangwoon's 'Wooni' and named it. She added, "I made a
lot of sketches to express the shape of hair and face, and I added a point by
reflecting the school's symbolic color in the design." She continued,
"I am very happy to be awarded the first place and I hope that it will be
put to good use in promoting the school in the future."
Lee Jiyoung, head of public relations team, said, "As the COVID 19 situation prolonged, I felt that there was a little gap between school and students but after seeing the spirit of the students and MZ generation, it was very meaningful.” She added, "We will do our best to effectively promote the school by using the mascots."
